The First Wednesday at Webster's Poetry Series continues on July 2 with featured poet Alicia Lai. Join us at 7 p.m. for a poetry open mic and then Lai's reading. We'll also be giving away a book of poetry and a Webster's gift certificate.
HOW IT WORKS: Each month, we host a reading by a featured poet, plus an open mic for everyone to share their work. Featured poets will read for 25 minutes. Open mic poets may read one poem, so that the night moves along at a good pace and everyone stays till the end. The series is free, but we'll ask for donations to pay each featured poet.
ABOUT JULY'S FEATURED POET: Alicia Lai writes. She is a 2014 YoungArts National Winner in Writing, and the recipient of the Easterday Poetry Prize and a scholarship from the Patricia Grodd Poetry Prize. She has also been recognized by the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, the Poetry Foundation, and the National Council of Teachers of English. Her writing is published in the Kenyon Review, Spry, National Poetry Quarterly, Curio Poetry, among others. She is also the Founder / Editor-in-Chief of The Postscript Journal (www.postscriptjournal.com), and will be attending Princeton University in the fall.
